Hydraulic Technician

ACE Winches are currently looking for a Hydraulic Technician to be based within our workshop, at our main headquarters in Turriff. 

This role is to provide expert levels of competence in the hydraulics department taking a lead, supporting, and mentoring others in the department where required. The role always requires working to the highest industry standards to construct, assemble, install, maintain and service our clients and our own hydraulic systems, components and all associated precision and general engineering on and offsite on behalf of the Company.

JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To undertake hydraulic hose manufacture, assembly & installation.
  • To manipulation/bending, assembly & installation of fixed tubing.
  • To be able to identify all types of low, medium & high-pressure hydraulic fitting & thread type/identification.
  • To carry out hydrostatic pressure testing of low and medium hydraulic systems.
  • To undertake startup and commissioning of new hydraulic installations.
  • To undertake hydraulic system oil flushing and sampling.
  • Be able to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, diagnosis on both closed loop & open loop systems.
  • Fully skilled and capable of reading hydraulic schematics & parts lists.
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision alone or as part of a team.
  • Must be fully skilled in carrying out pre-start equipment checks on all department equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance of tooling and equipment is kept up.
  • Be able to specify consumables and parts.
  • Completion of fault reporting and documentation.
  • Effective time management to ensure jobs are complete in a timely manner.
  • Effective management of materials and consumables.
  • Participate in review / initiatives.
  • Provide technical hydraulic expertise where required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

ESSENTIAL

  • Completion of a recognised engineering / trade apprenticeship.
  • Ability to work in a clean and efficient manner.
  • Previous experience in a similar hydraulic technician role.
  • Ability to read Hydraulic/Pneumatic system drawings and Mechanical Engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Identification of all types of low, medium & high-pressure hydraulic fitting & thread type/identification.
  • Strong knowledge of current Hydraulic engineering techniques and systems.
  • Knowledge to correctly identify thread types, hydraulic fittings and components.
  • Good communicator with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Self-motivated with good attention to detail.
  • Can work under pressure and achieve set deadlines.
  • Pressure testing of new systems.
  • Oil Flushing / Sampling.

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience in a similar engineering job role.
  • NFPC training courses in Hydraulic Engineering / Competence.
  • Experience working with closed loop hydraulic systems.
  • Ad hoc requirement to work offshore / offsite when required.
  • Previous experience working offshore.
