Specialised Hydraulic Drum Winches supporting the DolWin Platform

ACE Winches supplies specialised marine deck machinery to the offshore wind market, the equipment is designed, engineered and manufactured at the company’s global headquarters in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.  ACE Winches recently mobilized and installed a complex winch solution for its client to use during the jacket installation and float-over of the DolWin Topside platform.

The DolWin platform is one of the world’s largest high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter platform, generating enough power to provide approximately 1 million households with clean energy.  Measuring 100m in length, 70m wide, standing 90m and weighing approximately 15000te, the platform is located in the German Bight of the North Sea.

The winch package supplied included 6 x 120 Tonne WLL Hydraulic Drum Winch, 2 x 85 Tonne WLL Hydraulic Drum Winch, 4 x 30 Tonne WLL Hydraulic Drum Winch and ACE Running Line Monitors, 2 x ACE 14 Tonne WLL Hydraulic Drum Winch all of which was supported by Hydraulic Power Units. The specialised equipment, designed and manufactured by ACE Winches was mobilised and installed by a team of engineers and technicians and supported by an ACE operational team to oversee and operate the winch equipment.
