Machinist

ACE Winches are currently recruiting for a full time, permanent Machinist.

This position is required to ensure that quality work is produced, and completion dates are met.

JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To ensure the efficient use of your working time
  • To maintain good timekeeping at all times
  • To continually improve work through training, ongoing work experience and appraisals
  • Always promote ACE company when offsite or in the company of clients, friends and acquaintances
  • To follow instructions given in written form or verbally from department supervisor
  • To liaise with department supervisor ensuring department input delivered in timely manner to suit project requirements
  • To be involved and take part at morning and afternoon toolbox talks
  • To carry out all works according to machining drawings received.
  • To report appropriately where errors are found and feedback to Machining Supervisor
  • To report any breakages or damages immediately
  • To report any shortages in material or tooling immediately
  • To monitor and maintain the workshop 5S system
  • Implement controls identified by risk assessments step back 5x5 cards and permit to work systems.
  • To train and mentor apprentices on all good work practices and standards
  • Ensure individual work areas, machines and stations are secure and tidy when not in use
  • Communicate regularly within department
  • Demonstrate safe use of hand tools and power tools
  • Accountable for personal cleanliness and presentation
  • Effective management of materials and consumables
  • Complete Electronic timesheets on a daily basis
  • Complete departmental documentation as required
  • Follow processes and procedures, ensuring direct reports work to the same
  • Assist other departments when required
  • Provide technical expertise where required
  • Ensure the efficient use of department resources 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential

  • Good Secondary Education
  • Time served Mechanical Machinist
  • Experience working in similar environment
  • Knowledge of manual machining on Lathes, VTL’s, Milling Machines and Horizontal Borers.
  • Skilled machinist
  • Ability to organize and manage resources
  • Good communicator with the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Self-motivated with good attention to detail
  • Ability to use own initiative and works well in a team
  • Can work under pressure and achieve deadlines
  • The ability to respond positively when under pressure

Desirable

  •  HNC or equivalent in Engineering
