Health and Safety Policy
ACE Winches recognises its legal and moral responsibilities and is committed, in consultation with its employees, to create and maintain - so far as is reasonably practicable - a working environment which will ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees and any other persons who may be affected by its activities.
Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
ACE Winches shall meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HASAWA) and comply with relevant subordinate legislation. Staff shall comply with the requirements of appropriate publications and instructions issued to facilitate the implementation of health and safety legislation, in so far as they meet, without exception, the requirements of the HASAWA and other subordinate legislation. ACE Winches expects organisations and individuals with which we do business to demonstrate the same level of commitment to this Policy.
Fundamental importance
ACE Winches recognises that occupational health and safety is fundamental to all work activities and, therefore, an integral part of our business performance. The Senior Management Team is responsible, through the existing management structure, for ensuring that this Policy is properly implemented and functioning within their areas of accountability. Occupational Health & Safety specialists are available to advise and assist as necessary.
Management of risk
The management of risk to our own employees, and those who may be affected by our activities, shall be given the highest priority. These risks will be recognised and reduced to as low a level as is reasonably practicable by a comprehensive risk assessment programme. ACE Winches acknowledges that all risk can never be eliminated, but it will ensure that the human and material resources necessary to minimise these risks are made available and that any residual risk is within the skill and experience level of the workforce to control successfully. ACE strives towards achieving an incident-free workplace.
ACE Winches shall adopt the principles and requirements of the OHSAS 18001: Occupational Health & Safety Management Standard to provide stakeholders with an assurance that legislative compliance and continual improvement co-exist within a cost effective management system. ACE Winches aims to reduce the risk of ill health, accidents and near misses in the work place through a documented improvement programme based upon systematic performance appraisal and defined improvement targets.
Responsibility
ACE Winches recognises the importance of every employee in contributing to the success of this Policy. All personnel are expected to co-operate by taking reasonable care for their own safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions, and to comply with regulations and systems of work that are in place to protect all employees and others in the workplace.
